Mak Mee-kuen: Amendment will encourage owners to vote in person on major repairs

Mak Mee-kuen said the government had completed public consultation on amending the Buildings Management Ordinance last month, and the amendment would encourage owners to participate personally in voting on major repairs. She said the ordinance had previously contained grey areas, for example with no clear provision that a owners' corporation must not cancel meetings without reasonable grounds. She stressed that private property management must involve the participation of owners, and the government can only assist.
