Hui Ching-yu: Market Consultation Within This Year on How to Protect Investors from False and Fabricated Information

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Hui Ching-yu said that with the rise of agentic artificial intelligence, cases of investors being duped by false and fabricated information have increased, and the authorities will consult the market within this year on developing a legal framework to detect and eliminate deepfake advertisements at an early stage. He said the Financial Services Development Council is studying the relevant risks and response measures, and that generative AI sandbox testing has been extended from the banking sector to the securities and insurance sectors. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing is preparing to launch a multi-asset tokenisation platform within this year, initially piloting carbon credit trading.
