Peter Cheung Says MTR Successive Incidents Unacceptable, Calls for Comprehensive Investigation Into Causes

Kowloon East legislator Peter Cheung said MTR suspended train service twice during peak hours at Lam Tin Station within 24 hours, which has a major impact on the public and is unacceptable. He urged MTR to conduct a comprehensive and thorough investigation into the causes of the incidents as soon as possible, complete a full internal review and submit a complete incident report to explain to the public. He also suggested that, in addition to paying fines under the existing penalty mechanism, MTR should make direct compensation to affected passengers, for example by referring to the practice in previous years of giving an extra free local journey.
