Census and Statistics Department Releases Provisional Statistics on Restaurant Receipts and Purchases for Third Quarter of 2026

The Census and Statistics Department released the provisional estimate of total restaurant receipts for the third quarter of 2026 at $27.5 billion, up 3.1 per cent year on year; the provisional estimate of total restaurant purchases was $9 billion, up 5.4 per cent year on year. After discounting price changes, total restaurant receipts rose 2.1 per cent year on year in volume terms, with receipts rising across all restaurant categories. A government spokesman said restaurant business improved in the third quarter, reflecting a steady local consumption sentiment.
