Observatory Issues Red Fire Danger Warning, Urges Public to Be Careful with Fire

The Observatory issued a red fire danger warning on 23 October, saying fires are very likely and the public should be careful with fire. Members of the public travelling to the countryside should bring dry rations or cooked food and take care to prevent hill fires; lighting fires illegally in the countryside carries a $25,000 fine and one year in prison.
