Mable Mok says Northern Metropolis will add 170 km of public roads; San Tin section of Northern Metropolis Highway expected to open early in 2034

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Mok, in a written reply to a Legislative Council question, said the Northern Metropolis will add close to 170 kilometres of public roads, including about 24 kilometres of major trunk roads and about 144 kilometres of district road networks. The Highways Department is designing the Northern Metropolis Highway, with a total length of about 24 kilometres, in accordance with smart highway standards, of which the San Tin section is expected to open two years early in 2034; the Transport Department is expected to complete an update of the smart highway technical guidelines within this year.
