HYAB Consultation Results on Building Management Ordinance Amendment: Meeting Quorum Changed to Uniform 10%

The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau submitted a paper to the Legislative Council on the amendment of the Building Management Ordinance setting out the consultation results, saying that many views were concerned that setting meeting quorums by price bands would cause meetings to be abandoned for lack of a quorum, and proposed uniformly maintaining the existing 10 per cent of owners requirement for meetings. The authorities also maintained the tiered "in person voting" thresholds that rise with price, and former Legislative Council member Kong Yuk-foon urged the early introduction of electronic voting and a uniform voting threshold.
