Chan Wun-Tong: Supports Price Transparency at Private Hospitals, but Fixed Prices Unsuitable for Complex Procedures

Chan Wun-Tong, vice-chairman of the Private Hospitals Association, said the association supports the government requiring private hospitals through subsidiary legislation to publish price lists and provide fee estimates to enhance price transparency. He said some complex medical procedures involve many variables, and prices from drug and equipment suppliers also have an impact, so a single fixed price may not be suitable; setting a price range can give hospitals and doctors greater flexibility.
