Land Development Department staff break into and board up huts during land resumption at Cha Kwo Ling Village

Staff from the Land Development Department arrived at the century-old walled village Cha Kwo Ling Village on the morning of the 5th to resume land. The bosses of Hoi Kee (Hwa Hsin) Ice Room, Wing Wah Ice Room and Mow Fat Tea House all opened their doors and handed over their keys, and were arranged to apply within 14 days to re-enter and remove their belongings. Land Development Department staff also accompanied construction workers to break into a house; finding it empty, they sealed the door and boarded it up. During the process, some workers told reporters that this was a construction site and told them to take photographs elsewhere.
