Housing Authority Abstains on Lift Replacement Works at Two Estates as Lawmaker Calls for Better Communication Mechanism

The Housing Authority has confirmed that the owners' meetings for lift replacement works at Tsui Ping North Estate in Kwun Tong and Pok Hong Estate in Sha Tin were held in January 2024 and March last year respectively, and that the Housing Authority sent staff to attend and abstained from voting. The Housing Authority said that, in view of the serious failures announced by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department in the lift replacement works of "Tai Yat", it had immediately suggested that the Fu Heng Estate owners' incorporation suspend the award of the contract. Legislative Council member Leung Man-kwong considered the abstention undesirable and suggested that the Housing Authority, together with the Buildings Department, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, the Housing Department and the Urban Renewal Authority, establish a communication mechanism.
