HKMA Urges Public to Beware of Fraudulent Websites and Online Banking Login Screens of Six Banks

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to stay alert after Bank of East Asia, Shanghai Commercial Bank, Chong Hing Bank, Chiyu Banking Corporation, Fubon Bank (Hong Kong) and The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation issued press releases and reported to the HKMA about fraudulent websites and online banking login screens. The HKMA reminds the public that banks will not direct customers to websites for transactions through hyperlinks in SMS messages or emails, nor will they ask for login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided personal information or conducted transactions should contact the relevant bank and call 2860 5012 to report to the Police Criminal Headquarters Information Centre.
