John Lee Launches Two-Tier Administrative Accountability Probe Into Wang Fuk Court Fire, to Be Completed Within Three Months
特首決定就火災啟動行政責任兩級調查機制 調查三個月內完成
Chief Executive John Lee has launched a two-tier administrative accountability investigation mechanism under the departmental heads' accountability system into the Wang Fuk Court fire, referring it to the Public Service Commission for investigation, to be completed within three months. The investigation targets shortcomings by the independent review committee, the Buildings Department, the Fire Services Department and the Labour Department in regulating relevant fire risks, gathering evidence on whether personnel were derelict in their duties or breached rules, and making recommendations on disciplinary action and administrative sanctions. The government will hold two special press conferences tomorrow to introduce reforms to building maintenance regulation and measures to combat bid-rigging.
The Chief Executive sets out the scope and three-month deadline of the two-tier investigation mechanism, allowing readers to check which departments and personnel are covered.
