Yeung Ho Poi-yin: authorities will make improvements or pursue accountability according to the report of the independent committee on the Wing Fook Court fire
楊何蓓茵稱當局會根據宏福苑火災報告指出的問題作改善或追責
Secretary for the Civil Service Yeung Ho Poi-yin said an independent committee report on the Wing Fook Court fire was expected before the end of this month, and the authorities would make improvements or pursue accountability according to the improprieties identified in the report. She said that if the report clearly identified misconduct by individual civil servants or there was prima facie evidence, disciplinary action could not be ruled out from being launched directly. In addition, Hongkong Post will not issue long-term employment terms to employees who completed their probation in September, and will instead renew their contracts for two years.
The Secretary for the Civil Service explained that the independent committee's report is expected to be submitted before the end of this month, and set out the criteria for deciding whether to make improvements, pursue accountability or initiate disciplinary proceedings based on its contents once it is released.
