Chess tutor admits unlawful sexual intercourse with 12-year-old girl, jailed for 18 months

A 38-year-old chess tutor pleaded guilty to 3 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and was sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment at Tsuen Wan Court (acting as District Court) yesterday. The defence pleaded that the two were genuinely in love and that the defendant had failed to hold the line on morality, while acting judge Philip He Hanxi stressed that even though the victim had made the initial proposal, the law must still protect the vulnerability of minors.
