New Territories South Police Target Loan Sharks and Illegal Debt Collection, Arrest 18 People

Police in New Territories South Region over the past 3 days targeted loan sharks and illegal debt collection, searching a finance company alleged to be triad-controlled and arresting 18 people aged 17 to 69, including the person in charge of the finance company. The arrestees are suspected of lending money at excessively high interest rates, carrying on money-lending business without a licence, money laundering, criminal intimidation and criminal damage. It is understood that the finance company has a 14K triad background.
