Hang Seng Index closes up 59 points, mainland bank stocks perform well

The Hang Seng Index closed at 24,271 points, up 59 points, with full-day main board turnover exceeding $162.6 billion. The financial sub-index rose more than 1%, mainland bank stocks performed well, China Merchants Bank rose more than 3%, China Construction Bank and Bank of China rose nearly 2% or more; the property sub-index fell about 1%. The tech index fell nearly 0.7% to 4,169 points, Xiaomi fell more than 5%; Laopu Gold plunged nearly 8%, making it the worst-performing Hang Seng constituent.
