HKMA Urges Public to Beware of Scams Related to Bank of East Asia and Chong Hing Bank

Bank of East Asia and Chong Hing Bank have issued press releases about fraudulent websites and online banking login screens, and have reported the incidents to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reminds the public that banks will not direct customers to websites for transactions through SMS or email hyperlinks, nor will they ask for sensitive information such as login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided personal information or conducted transactions should contact the relevant bank and call 2860 5012 to report to the police.
