HKMA Urges Public to Beware of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Fraudulent Website and Internet Banking Login Screen Scam

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to stay alert. Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited has issued a press release about a fraudulent website and internet banking login screen and has reported the incident to the HKMA. The HKMA reminds the public that banks will not direct customers to websites for transactions through SMS or email hyperlinks, nor will they ask customers to provide sensitive information such as login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided personal information or conducted transactions should contact the bank and call 2860 5012 to report to the Information Centre of the Crime Wing of the Hong Kong Police Force.
