Wang Fuk Court Fire Victims' Families Urge Officials to Apologise and Step Down, Say Poor Government Oversight Led to 168 Deaths

The independent committee on the Wang Fuk Court fire has submitted its report to the Chief Executive, and the report will be released later. Yip Ka-kui, a resident who lost his wife, hopes the government will give a sincere account, hold appointed officials accountable and bow in apology, believing an apology would honour the 168 victims. Law Hiu-kei, whose mother died, also demanded a formal government apology and acknowledgement of responsibility, saying the incident happened under the government's governance and nearly 2,000 households lost their homes.
