Paul Chan: If commission report names individuals for misconduct, disciplinary action may be taken directly

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Ho said that if the independent commission's report on the Wang Fuk Court fire specifies that certain personnel were at fault, or if prima facie evidence is clear, direct disciplinary action cannot be ruled out. If the report only points out problems with the relevant organisations, the Standing Commission on Disciplinary Action will investigate the administrative responsibility of the relevant personnel. The report is expected to be submitted before the end of the month. Chief Executive John Lee earlier said that reform and accountability would be pursued as soon as possible.
