Hang Seng Index regains 24,000-point mark, up 259 points at midday

The Hang Seng Index regained the 24,000-point mark at midday, closing at 24,045 points at noon, up 259 points, or about 1.1%. Turnover on the Main Board reached nearly $111.7 billion in the morning session. The Tech Index rose more than 1.5% to 4,136 points, with Xiaomi surging more than 7% to become the best-performing constituent. AI and chip stocks moved lower, with Zhipu and Tianshu Zhixin falling nearly 5% or more.
