HKMA Urges Public to Beware of Fraud Cases Involving Chong Hing Bank and OCBC Bank (Hong Kong)

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to stay alert after Chong Hing Bank Limited discovered fraudulent social media accounts and OCBC Bank (Hong Kong) Limited was found to have fraudulent websites and online banking login screens; both banks have reported the incidents to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reminds the public that banks will not direct customers to websites for transactions through hyperlinks in SMS messages or emails, nor will they ask customers to provide sensitive information such as login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided personal information or conducted transactions should contact the relevant bank and report the matter to the police on 2860 5012.
