HKEX's Core Climate completes first cross-border pilot trades in green certificates and carbon emission allowances

Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing announced that two cross-border pilots facilitated by its Core Climate platform have been completed, and that it has signed a cooperation agreement with Guangzhou Power Exchange Centre to establish a cross-border green certificate trading channel. The first pilot involved 15 enterprises, trading a total of about 100,000 green certificates. The second pilot provided settlement of Shenzhen carbon emission allowances for three overseas institutions, marking the first time that domestic and overseas carbon exchanges have achieved cross-border settlement.
