Shop Cat Goes Missing, Killed by Vehicle; Passing Driver Hands Body to Pet After-Care Organisation

A tabby cat named "Garlic", kept at a vegetable stall in Happy Valley, was found missing early yesterday morning, and staff reported the matter to the police. When officers arrived, the case was initially classified as theft. A volunteer following the incident said "Garlic" was run over by a vehicle on the Canal Road Flyover in Wan Chai the night before, and its body was picked up by a passing taxi driver and handed over to a pet after-care organisation. It is believed the cat ran onto the flyover after being startled, leading to the accident.
