Mary Hospital lift engineer sentenced to 160 hours of community service; Department of Justice applies for review

Mary Hospital registered lift engineer Lo Wing-chai was charged with submitting false or misleading documents and issuing safety certificates despite unsatisfactory inspection results, was convicted, and on 23 last month was sentenced to 160 hours of community service. The Department of Justice has applied for a review of the sentence. The case involved multiple lifts in Clinical Building 1 being taken out of service for maintenance, resulting in clinical services being unable to commence. The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department replied that judicial proceedings are still ongoing and it is not appropriate to comment further.
