Abbie Choi trial resumes; defence says Chris Choi mortgaged properties and incurred debt, Kwok Kau funded property purchase; victim's mother denounces smear campaign

The trial over the dismemberment of Abbie Choi resumed. The defence said Choi's mother Zhang Yanhua's husband Chris Choi purchased a Whampoa Garden unit by way of mortgage, and that Kwok Kau contributed half the funding to buy the Kadoorie Hill luxury flat. Zhang denied the claims and denounced them as a smear campaign by the defence. The defence presented land registry records showing the unit had been subject to three legal charges in succession. Zhang said she roughly knew her husband had debts but was unaware of the details.
