Secretary for Health and Welfare Lo Chung-mau said that if misinformation affects the younger generation from joining the nursing profession, Hong Kong will have to bear this "bitter fruit" in future. The 99 per cent hiring rate he cited was questioned as old 2025 data. In this year's first round of recruitment completed in June, the Hospital Authority received about 3,000 applications from fresh graduates and issued about 2,200 job offers, a hiring rate of about 73.3 per cent.
