Middle Kowloon Bypass Opens in Full on December 6 With Flat $8 Toll From Same Day

The Middle Kowloon Bypass will open in full on December 6, with a flat toll of $8 charged to all vehicles from the same day. The Transport and Logistics Bureau said in a Legislative Council paper that the charging point is located at the eastern entrance and exit of the Yau Ma Tei section tunnel, and that the E-Toll system is being tested, with completion expected in November. The paper said that the two-way weekday traffic volume of the Yau Ma Tei section tunnel has risen to 75,000 vehicle trips, and that if the bypass remains free of charge after opening in full, its utilisation during peak hours would approach saturation.
