EPD: I.PARK1 Suspends Waste Reception After Fire, Cause Under Investigation

A fire broke out at I.PARK1, Phase 1 of the Integrated Waste Management Facilities on the artificial island near Shek Kwu Chau. It burned for about 4 hours before being put out. One worker felt unwell and was sent to hospital, and about 970 construction workers and operating staff were evacuated. The EPD said the facility has temporarily suspended waste reception, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the contractor has been instructed to submit a fire report within 7 days.
