HKMA Urges Public to Beware of Scams Related to Bank of East Asia, Shanghai Commercial, Chong Hing, Chiyu and OCBC

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority urges the public to stay vigilant. Bank of East Asia, Shanghai Commercial Bank, Chong Hing Bank, Chiyu Banking Corporation and OCBC Bank (Hong Kong) have issued press releases about fraudulent websites and online banking login screens, and have reported the incidents to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority reminds the public that banks will not use SMS or email hyperlinks to direct customers to websites for transactions, nor will they ask for login passwords and one-time passwords. Those who have provided personal information or conducted transactions should contact the relevant bank and call 2860 5012 to report to the police.
