Business and Professionals Alliance Opposes Government Handling Major Building Repairs, Fears Blurring Owners' Management Responsibilities

Business and Professionals Alliance legislator Tang Ming-sum, speaking during the Legislative Council debate on the motion "Combating Bid-Rigging and Promoting the Criminalisation of Bid-Rigging", said the alliance does not agree with the government acting as agent and handling building repair works, believing it would blur owners' management responsibilities and create a huge financial and administrative burden. She suggested the authorities provide a whitelist and public cost references, and let incorporated owners' committee members receive basic training on engineering and repair knowledge.
