Tsuen Wan Kwok Yip Road cement plant repeatedly receives noise pollution complaints, lawmaker urges authorities to review relocation
荃灣水泥廠鄰近新公屋盤屢接噪音及污染投訴 有議員籲當局考慮搬遷設施
The cement plant on Kwok Yip Road in Tsuen Wan is close to public housing about to be completed, and residents have repeatedly complained about noise and dust pollution. A lawmaker urged taking the opportunity to review whether the facility should remain as its licence expires on 7 November next year. About 1,700 public housing units housing about 4,700 people will be built near the plant. The Environmental Protection Department said licence renewal would be assessed in accordance with the requirements of the Air Pollution Control Ordinance, while the Planning Department said the Town Planning Board had granted planning permission for residential development at the cement plant in 2011.
