About 30 Substandard Columns Found at Tung Chung West Station Site as MTR Halts Unauthorised Repair Works

The Buildings Department said the structural engineering team for the Tung Chung West Station project first found the problem in early October, involving 1 substandard concrete column on the platform, and subsequently identified about 30 substandard columns. After MTR found the contractor had carried out repair works without authorisation, it ordered the contractor to rectify the structure concerned.
