Dozens of Hong Kong Christian groups petition against tourism body’s ‘Halloween Month’ campaign
Dozens of Hong Kong Christian groups have petitioned against the Hong Kong Tourism Board's first-ever 'Halloween Month' promotional campaign, questioning the government's use of public funds to celebrate a Western ghost festival in such a high-profile manner. Christian group 'Yeshua Families Built in Love' submitted an online petition to the Legislative Council and the government, signed by 70 people, calling on the authorities to halt the campaign. Legislative Council member Junius Ho, meanwhile, argued that Halloween celebrations should be confined to a single day on 31 October and should not be expanded into a 14-day city-wide revelry.
