Government Chinese Medicine Testing Centre completes 22 projects, cutting deer antler authenticity testing from 3 days to 1

Since its establishment in 2017, the Government Chinese Medicine Testing Centre of the Department of Health has completed 22 thematic projects, among which a simplified DNA testing method can reduce the authentication of deer antler from the traditional 3 days to 1 day. The chemical analysis method developed by the centre is applicable to different Chinese medicine prescriptions and can simultaneously test the chemical indicator components of multiple Chinese medicinal materials, achieving "one test, multiple detections". The centre's permanent building in Tseung Kwan O has been progressively put into service since the end of last year.
