Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Uncovers 48 Lifts in Tsui Ping (North) Estate and Pok Hong Estate Missing Fire-Resistant Door Frame Components

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department conducted a surprise inspection of lift works by Hitachi Elevator (Hong Kong) Limited at Tsui Ping (North) Estate in Kwun Tong and Pok Hong Estate in Sha Tin, finding that the company had installed only fire-resistant doors without the related door frame components, yet reported the works as completed, involving 48 lifts. The EMSD ordered rectification to be completed within one month, with costs borne by Hitachi, and launched enforcement under the Lifts and Escalators Ordinance, saying fraud and false statements were not ruled out and that the case would be referred to the Police for follow-up.
