Tai Yat Elevator Fails to Install Fire-Resistant Door Frames on 48 Lifts in Kwun Tong and Sha Tin; Police Reportedly Arrest Director and 2 Registered Engineers

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department says Tai Yat Elevator (Hong Kong) installed only fire-resistant doors, but not fire-resistant door frame components, on 48 lifts it replaced at Tsui Ping North Estate in Kwun Tong and Pok Hong Estate in Sha Tin, and reported the work as completed. Police have reportedly arrested 3 people so far, including 1 company director of Tai Yat Elevator and 2 registered engineers, aged between 63 and 82.
