Centre for Health Protection investigates cluster of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales carriage cases at North Point elderly home

The Centre for Health Protection on 9 October investigated a cluster of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacterales carriage cases at an elderly home in North Point, involving 3 residents on the same floor, all of whom are carriers, asymptomatic and in stable condition. The 3 people are aged between 74 and 94. The centre said the source may have come from 2 other known carriers on the same floor, and that the home had not implemented relevant infection control measures. It will continue to conduct screening and medical surveillance at the home.
