Trainee nurse at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital stole patients' and colleagues' belongings, admits 11 charges, jailed 28 months

A male trainee nurse stole mobile phones, cash and credit cards from patients and medical staff at Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital, involving over 90,000 dollars. He was charged with 14 counts of theft, admitted 11 of them at the District Court yesterday, and was sentenced to 28 months' imprisonment. The defendant pleaded that he committed the offences due to financial difficulties. Acting Judge Lai Kim-wah criticised him for abusing his status as a student nurse and undermining the trust between doctors and patients.
