Hong Kong Studies Association Announces Dissolution After Nine Years, Citing Lack of Funding

The Hong Kong Studies Association (SHKS), established nine years ago, has emailed members to announce it will cease operations on 31 October, citing "a lack of funding" as the reason for its dissolution. Founded by 250 scholars from 21 countries, the association has held annual conferences, workshops and public lectures since 2017. Its chairman, John Carroll, told Ming Pao that the dissolution was "purely a funding issue", saying the association received no financial support from universities and lacked the ability to raise funds itself.
