EMSD Says Taiwan-Japan Lift Company Made Serious Errors in Lift Works at Two Public Housing Estates, 48 Lifts Involved; Fraud and False Statement Suspicions Referred to Police

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department said Taiwan-Japan Elevator (Hong Kong) Limited made serious errors in replacing a total of 48 lifts at Tsui Ping North Estate in Kwun Tong and Po Hong Estate in Shatin. The company was required to install fire-resistant doors but did not install the relevant door frame components and reported the work as completed. The department said the construction work had serious deficiencies, and did not rule out criminal acts involving fraud and making false statements, and has referred the incident to the police for follow-up.
