EMSD Finds Tai Yat Elevator Omitted Door Frame Components in Lift Replacements at Two Housing Estates, Orders Remedial Action and Refers Case to Police

The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department found that registered contractor Tai Yat Elevator (Hong Kong) Limited omitted fire-rated door frame components in 9 lifts at Tsui Ping North Estate in Kwun Tong and 39 lifts at Po Hong Estate in Shatin, and has ordered completion of remedial work and bearing of costs within one month, with the incident referred to the police for follow-up. The department completed inspections within three days of all lifts in Hong Kong installed by Tai Yat and required other contractors to submit reports on the same checks.
