Tang Ping-keung: Footfall at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Control Points Drops 3 to 7 Per Cent After New Huanggang Port Opens
Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung said the new Huanggang Port had operated smoothly for about a week since opening, with people and vehicles completing clearance in an average of 5 to 15 minutes. Immigration Department figures showed about 130,000 passenger trips through the new Huanggang Port yesterday, while the average in the first few days after opening was about 80,000 passenger trips a day, more than double the level before the port was redeveloped. He said footfall at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Spur Line control points fell by about 3 to 7 per cent, which he considered had played a diversion role.
About a week after the port opened, Tang Ping-keung gave specific figures on footfall and clearance times, and explained the diversion effect of a 3 to 7 per cent drop in footfall at Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau Spur Line.
