Yao Zuhui describes university city as the "main course" of Northern Metropolis; Ng Wing-ka urges infrastructure-first approach for Northern Metropolis
At the Legislative Council's consolidated debate on the motion to accelerate the development of the Northern Metropolis, business sector legislator Yao Zuhui described the Northern Metropolis University City as the "main course" of the Northern Metropolis, saying it would help attract technology and innovation enterprises, top talent and investors from various places. He supported positioning the Hung Shui Kiu University City as a hub for "smart manufacturing-oriented applied tertiary education", and expressed hope that the government would "increase" its capital injection into the Hong Kong Investment Corporation. Ng Wing-ka of the Business and Professionals Alliance advocated an "infrastructure-first" approach for the Northern Metropolis, calling for transport, road infrastructure and public facilities to be completed first, while also taking into account cross-boundary passenger flow arrangements.
