IMF Upgrades Hong Kong's Economic Growth Forecast for This Year to 3.8%; Paul Chan Says Government's View Is More Optimistic

The International Monetary Fund's latest forecast upgrades Hong Kong's economic growth for this year to 3.8%, while global economic growth slows from 3.5% last year to 3.1% this year. Financial Secretary Paul Chan, citing the forecast, says Asia's overall growth remains markedly faster than the global rate, and says the government's view on Hong Kong is a little more optimistic.

Government announces subscription and allotment results for new Silver Bond issue; all valid applications allotted up to 17 lots

The Government announced the subscription and allotment results for the new Silver Bond issue, receiving a total of 371,821 valid applications with a total subscription principal of HK$98,227,300,000 and an issue size of HK$55 billion. All valid applications will be allotted up to 17 lots; applications for 16 lots or fewer were allotted in full, while after balloting, 113,918 of the remaining applications were able to receive one additional lot.
