    Cheung Siu-chung: Semiconductor ETF Bet Pays Off, Can Add More as Price Rises

    Cheung Siu-chung said the semiconductor ETF bet has paid off and more can be added as the price rises. The Hang Seng Index fell 251 points yesterday to close at 24,062 points, with turnover of $224.1 billion. US CPI came in above expectations, while a surge in CoreWeave's bond yields and CDS caused semiconductor stocks to plunge sharply; the Nasdaq fell 2 per cent on Wednesday night and South Korean stocks slumped 7.5 per cent.

    Taobao and Tmall Global announced at a media briefing that it will update its platform this year, launching the "DISCOVER" section, strengthening AI shopping guidance and logistics services. The platform said overseas users' demand for Chinese-made and original products has shifted from price-driven to pursuing quality and distinctive features, and it will combine AI with human taste judgement to screen products and merchants according to four criteria: quality, distinctive features, price and service, recommending them on the DISCOVER page.

    HSBC launches digital discretionary investment for retail customers

    HSBC has launched a digital discretionary portfolio management service, "Portfolio+", becoming the first retail bank to offer such a service. The bank's portfolio managers invest on behalf of clients, who do not need to select individual investments or handle day-to-day investment decisions. Lillian Ng, Head of Wealth and Financial Solutions, Hong Kong at HSBC, said private banks already offer discretionary investment services, and the service is now being brought to retail customers through technology.
