List of Single Persons' Hostels

The "Temporary Accommodation Centre / Urban Single Persons' Hostel" will be renamed "Single Persons' Hostel" with effect from 1 October 2026. Data on that webpage on the Open Data Platform will cease to be updated on the same day, and the latest information will be available on the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Portal. The list is provided by the Social Welfare Department and sets out the names of operators, contact details, enquiry hours, gender of service recipients and hostel types.

Scam notification dataset updated; Hong Kong Monetary Authority provides JSON application programming interface

The data.gov.hk dataset "Scam Notification" is provided by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, with a publication date of 2026-09-14. The dataset uses JSON format and provides an application programming interface, with an update frequency of as required. The interface is read using the GET method, and the required parameter lang can be entered as en, tc or sc to select the output language.

Hong Kong Monetary Authority releases Hong Kong international reserves and liquidity data for end-August

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority released on 30 September data on Hong Kong's foreign exchange reserves and liquidity as at end-August 2026. The dataset is released monthly according to the International Monetary Fund's Special Data Dissemination Standard template. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority issues four foreign exchange fund press releases each month, three of which are published under the Special Data Dissemination Standard, while the fourth is a summary of the foreign exchange fund balance sheet and currency board accounts.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced monetary statistics for August 2026. Total deposits with authorized institutions rose 1.4% month-on-month, with Hong Kong dollar and foreign currency deposits up 2.2% and 0.8% respectively. Renminbi deposits in Hong Kong fell 2.1% to RMB1,101.5 billion, the Hong Kong dollar loan-to-deposit ratio declined from 70.7% to 69.3%, and both Hong Kong dollar M2 and M3 rose 2.1%.

《危險藥物條例》修訂令十月二日刊憲 將三種物質納入附表1管制

政府將於十月二日在憲報刊登《2026年危險藥物條例（修訂附表1）令》，把三種新興物質納入附表1管制，預計十一月二十七日生效。修訂令將於十月七日提交立法會先訂立後審議，販運及製造最高刑罰為終身監禁及罰款500萬元，管有及服用最高監禁7年及罰款100萬元。

Testing of imported Japanese aquatic products

From noon on 29 September to noon on 30 September, the Centre for Food Safety tested 223 samples of Japanese imported aquatic products and their products, seaweed and sea salt, and none of the radiation levels exceeded safety standards; over the same period, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department tested 50 samples of local fishery products, all of which were satisfactory. The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has issued a Food Safety Order prohibiting the import into Hong Kong of aquatic products, sea salt and seaweed food originating from 10 prefectures including Tokyo and Fukushima.

Elder Academy Development Fund opens funding applications

The Elder Academy Development Fund Committee is now accepting applications for a new round of funding. Primary and secondary school sponsoring bodies, post-secondary institutions and organisations that organise learning activities for senior citizens must submit their applications by 31 October. Each approved elder academy established in a primary or secondary school can receive a maximum funding of $122,000 to implement a three-year programme, while those that have completed their first three-year programme can apply for a maximum of $60,000 to implement a two-year programme. 食安中心公布八月份食物安全報告

食物環境衞生署食物安全中心公布八月份食物安全報告，約六千個檢測樣本整體合格率為百分之九十九點八，除較早前公布的十三個樣本外全部通過檢測。十三個不合格樣本涉及除害劑殘餘超標、菌落計數超標及檢出微量甲醛等，中心已指令涉事商戶停售並追查問題食物來源。中心會繼續加強對日本進口食品的輻射檢測。

LCSD urges public to keep places clean while watching fireworks

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department urges the public to keep places clean and stay safe during the National Day fireworks display on 1 October. On the day, the department will work with enforcement teams from relevant departments to step up patrols at several waterfront and park venues under its management, including the Avenue of Stars, Tamar Park and the Kai Tak area. Members of the public must take away the items they bring when leaving, must not leave behind any litter, and should follow crowd control measures and instructions from police officers on site.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced that participating banks in the intellectual property financing sandbox have completed financing approvals for seven pilot cases, with loan amounts ranging from HK$1 million to HK$39 million, used for daily operations, business expansion and marketing. Newly drawn mortgage loans rose 11.6% to HK$32.8 billion, outstanding mortgage loans increased 0.6% month on month to HK$1,975.4 billion, and the delinquency ratio stood at 0.11%.

The HKSAR Government has successfully priced the fourth batch of digital green bonds worth about HK$20 billion equivalent, covering Hong Kong dollars, renminbi, US dollars and euros. The issuance introduced tokenised deposits into the Hong Kong dollar bond primary settlement process through EnsembleTX and adopted Bond Data Taxonomy 2.0. The bureau is compiling three lists, covering inspection consultants, supervision consultants and contractors, with criteria covering technical capability, integrity and conduct, financial capability and past performance, reviewed every two years.

Christopher Hui leads financial sector delegation on visit to Northern Metropolis

Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui led a delegation of local financial industry representatives on a visit to the Northern Metropolis, touring the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, Kwu Tung North New Development Area and Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area to learn about the industrial layout and investment and financing opportunities. The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau, together with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, is studying the relaxation of financing arrangements for companies in the parks under the banking sector capital requirements framework, while the insurance industry's risk-based capital regime will also provide capital concessions for infrastructure investments, including those in the Northern Metropolis, from 31 December.
