Employers/contractors and employees must note electrical safety when working in rainstorms
The Labour Department reminds employers and contractors that they should, as far as possible, avoid assigning employees to carry out electrical work or handle electrical operating devices in areas affected by rainstorms, and should refer to the Code of Practice in Adverse Weather and "Extreme Situations". Even at locations not affected by rainstorms, safety measures must still be taken owing to the humid air, including isolating the power supply, switching off and locking the power supply and testing the circuit to confirm it is de-energised, and providing personal protective equipment such as insulating gloves and insulating mats; if live-line work is required, a comprehensive risk assessment must be carried out by a competent person before construction begins.
