Government Chinese Medicine Testing Centre develops simple methods and efficient analysis to cut testing time for medicinal materials and Chinese medicine granules

The Government Chinese Medicine Testing Centre of the Department of Health has developed a simple DNA testing method for testing deer antler, reducing the testing time from 3 days by the traditional method to within 1 day. Since its establishment, the centre has completed 22 thematic projects, and has developed an efficient chemical analysis method for compound Chinese medicine granules, which can simultaneously test the chemical indicator components of multiple Chinese medicines. The centre has also introduced an electronic sensory analysis instrument commonly known as an "electronic tongue", launching a pilot scheme to digitise the taste of Chinese medicinal materials.

MPFA to launch one-stop MPF account information enquiry service from 5 October

The eMPF Platform will launch a new one-stop "MPF Account Information Enquiry Service" from 5 October, allowing members, authorised persons and estate representatives to apply once to view trustee, scheme name, account number and balance. MPFA Chairman Ayesha Lau said in a blog post that the existing "Personal Account Electronic Enquiry" does not cover account numbers and balances, requiring members to contact different trustees one by one, while the new service can save considerable time without having to approach trustees individually.
