Male worker falls from height to his death while dismantling work platform at Tung Chung construction site; Labour Department issues provisional notice to stop work
A male worker fell from height while dismantling a work platform on the external wall of a construction site in Tung Chung this afternoon and was certified dead after being sent to hospital. The Labour Department has deployed staff to the scene to investigate and has issued a "provisional notice to stop work" to the relevant contractor, halting the erection, alteration, dismantling and use of such work platforms on the external walls of buildings at the site until it is satisfied that the hazards have been eliminated before work may resume. The Labour Department is fully investigating the cause of the accident and the legal liability of the parties held responsible.
